Stardate epoch

Captains log, stardate 78201.03. 

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the new stardate. The closest I could get was that, for 2023, it is based on when the episode aired in New York, at 3 am.

Stardates are decimal years, or rather, milliyears. One whole stardate is a milliyear. In calendar terms, the epoch for the current stardate era is the beginning if 1945. The epoch for future Picard stardate era is 2323. Just count the elapsed milliyears since the epoch, both whole and fractional.

I need more data to get confirmation. Hopefully, we’ll get some soon.
