kWh is not an SI or Metric Unit

Check out this article from an automotive website, Fun Electric Vehicle Fact: kWh is not an SI or Metric Unit Of Energy by John Goreham.

He is correct, kWh is not metric because the hour is not metric.The SI unit of speed is m/s He could have also mentioned that hm/h is also not metric. See the instructions for the use of non-metric time units from the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Special Publication 811:

5.1.1 Hour, degree, liter, and the like

Certain units that are not part of the SI are essential and used so widely that they are accepted by the CIPM, and thus by this Guide, for use with the SI. 

He makes some good points. I would only disagree with the fact that he linked to Lyle Zapato’s website, instead of mine!
